Is it okay to freeze individually packaged string cheese?
I'm less concerned about what it does to the taste of the cheese, and more concerned about the safety of freezing the cheese with the plastic. I heard that there are certain plastics that should not be frozen, which is why I'm concerned.
If I had the name of the plastic being used, I'd probably be able to search for its safety online. However, the manufacturer does not list the type of plastic being used.
I've tried several searches online, but nothing yielded anything useful.
I froze once string cheese.
Despite the plastic bag freezing, the cheese tasted as it was, with no changes in its taste.
Possible Duplicate: How long can I keep eggs in the refrigerator? I've got some eggs in a carton (regular Grade A eggs) in the refrigerator. The "sell by" date on them is October 2nd. Today is October 19th, so that's about two and a half weeks past. Generally, foods are good for a couple weeks past the sell by date, but how many weeks do I have before they aren't edible (spoil or generally get "the funk"). If I made french toast in the morning and used them, would they be good? I'm more concerned with 100% safety than them being 10% less awesome tasting after a certain time.
I need to frost a cake and cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting for a late morning party tomorrow. I do not do a lot of baking so I'm concerned about when I should frost the cakes. For the sake of time tomorrow I'd prefer to frost the cakes this evening, but am worried about overnight storage of a cream cheese frosting. Can I frost the cakes tonight and leave them frosted on the counter? If left on the counter do they need to be covered? Would it be better to place the cakes in the refrigerator? Is my best bet to wait until tomorrow before frosting?
a whipped cream dispenser, one of the responses said it might be from over-charging the container, so I'm a little concerned. tried Googling it, but only found mentions of it being a chemical reaction (that much is obvious) and mostly just speculation as to the causes and prevention, but little discussion on the safety of blue/green garlic. There are a couple of of question here about cooked / old garlic and onions turning green, but they have the same information as the other pages. The few mentions of safety that I can... are by definition change, which means that something that was safe can become not so. My power went out for about 20 hours today, from 1am to 9pm. I'm wondering if the food in my refrigerator and freezer are spoiled. Here's some info: High temperature was about 100F outside, but only reached 90F inside. Fridge and freezer had no power the whole time, but I didn't open them at all while the power was out. The items I'd be concerned about: Fridge: Milk (opened), eggs, cheese (pre-packaged, but opened), bacon (opened) Freezer: sausage, ground beef Actually, the ground beef stayed frozen, but the sausages are now soft. I made a batch of cherry ice cream last night and for some reason it seems to taste like I have used cherry flavouring/syrup rather than the actual cherries which were used instead. The cherries themselves had been frozen / defrosted before being added to the custard base, which I wouldn't have thought would make a difference (but maybe it does), but apart from that I'm a bit baffled as to why this has happened? edit Cherries went into the freezer fully ripe and tasting delicious - they were unpitted and frozen in one whole batch (not separated out as you might do with say blackberries)
there is no biological hazard with them: any virus or bacteria in the pallets, or bugs in logs will definitely be destroyed by the fire temperature (over 800C/1,500F). What I'm concerned about is: I don't know...I have recently made a brick wood fired oven. It's a black / dirt / Roman / traditional type of oven: where you burn the fuel (typically wood) in the same chamber where you put the food to be cooked... (or ashes) out. Possible Duplicate: How can I ensure food safety if my cooking utensils have touched raw meat? I tend to be over careful when handling raw meat when cooking. However, I think it is simply ignorance about what is safe within reason. My actual question in this case is one that I've wondered for awhile now—when doing stir fry, I use raw chicken and cook it accordingly. After each time I... washing them. I keep thinking that the raw juices are going to stay on the tongs and get on to the parts of the meal near the end before I serve it. Am I just being overly-paranoid?
