I've made mac and cheese. If I put it in the fridge (not freezer) in the original baking dish, covered with aluminum foil, will it be safe to eat the next day?

Is there a better way to store it for a day (better than covering with foil)?

  • Make sure your fridge is cold enough You need to make sure your fridge is cold enough otherwise food poisoning bacteria will still be able to grow. Your fridge should be between 0ºC and 5ºC.

If you’re not sure how the temperature setting or dial works on your fridge, you could use a fridge thermometer to check it’s the right temperature.

Here are a few other fridge tips that you might find useful:

keep the fridge door closed as much as possible
wait for food to cool down before you put it in the fridge
if your fridge is full, turn the temperature down to help keep it cold enough

Cool leftovers as quickly as possible (ideally within one to two hours) and then store them in the fridge. Eat any leftovers within two days, except for cooked rice, which you should eat within one day to help avoid food poisoning.

I left out 2 raw but frozen 6 lbs beef briskets in the sink at 7PM to thaw out because they were rock hard from the freezer. I had intended to transfer them to the refrigerator but only the next morning at 7AM did I remember that I had forgotten to put them in the refrigerator. They will be seared on both sides first in a heavy cast iron pan and then braised for 3-4 hours in the oven. Is this still safe?

  • the box in the cupboard. Is there a better way to keep the beans? It'll take probably a few weeks for me to get thru the beans. I heard that the cool of the refrigerator is good, but that the beans can get damp in the fridge. I heard the freezer is good, but I thought the same could happen… How about this: I was thinking of bagging the beans in portions of the amount I'll use each day. Putting the bags in the plastic box, and putting that in the freezer. Then each day I'd take out a portion of beans to defrost ready to grind the next day. I would use cheap bags, not freezer bags. • Possible Duplicate: How long can cooked food be safely stored at room/warm temperature? I cooked about 2lbs of pork loin in the crock pot for 8 hours on low last night. It was on low from 12:00am to 8:00am. From 8:00am to 12:00pm, the crock pot was turned off, and at 12:00pm the food was 'warm' but above room temperature. Is this still safe to eat? The crock pot was covered, but its anyones guess (guestimating using some math) how long the loin was at the safe high temperature. I immediately threw it in the refrigerator, but if I do keep it, should it be brought up to 135°
