I have some good smoked cod roe that I want to create a breakfast dish with.
I have no idea what to do with the cod roe though - I've never used it before. Do I slice it? Fry it? Spread it?
Ideally it would be toast, fried eggs and the cod roe plus whatever else would go well to make a breakfast treat for my girlfriend (who's a chef so it has to be good :))
Try using it as you would smoked Salmon and thinly slice or spread it over a bagel with cream cheese or slice it and stir it with scrambled eggs right before they are done or serving it with hollandaise egg
Background I have some cod liver oil to take a supplement, but the taste is sufficiently unpleasant that I am not sure how to finish the bottle off. In the past, I have found emulsified cod liver oil fully tolerable, even pleasant, and I would like to know if it would be simple to make a similar product at home from raw cod liver oil. Salted cod is a famous dish in Portugal and I would like to prepare it. It is common here to see the whole of a fish (well, without head, guts etc obviously) in supermarkets - like this: Wikipedia I expect that it can be stored at home for quite a long time without refrigeration. However I'm not sure. What is the best way to store salted cod? For how long can it be stored? And, as a bonus question: what to do against the whole house smelling like codfish? ;)

I bought a smoked pork chop from the butcher yesterday, and assumed I would cook it like any other pork chop, but after looking at it, it seems like it may be edible as is. The appearance is close to that of a cooked ham. I saw some suggestions online about using it in soups or as breakfast meat, but nothing mentioned just eating it fresh from butcher.

I just prepared my first scallop dish. The recipe instructed to remove roe (the orange part) before searing, as it cooks much faster than the rest of a scallop.
